Thy Marvellous LovingKindness…
“A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned (deceitful) lips. (Psalms 17:1) Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee….” (Psalms 17:7)
This prayer of David comes from the depths of his heart and soul. He appeals to his LORD and God, give ear unto my prayer and what is the essence of his prayer? “Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness,…” How has HE shown it?
God in HIS wisdom and eternal purposes created a most glorious and majestic universe that would contain a planet designed for the health, welfare, and blessing of man, made in HIS image. A universe of stars, planets, galaxies, and space which have had little or no investigations. The wonders of this cosmos stir the minds of man as we contemplate it vast expansions. A universe that was to be a backdrop to declare the glory of God to the crown of HIS creation. Our souls cry out: How big, how great, how powerful, how creative and majestic and marvelous is our God?
The creation of the earth with its’ stimulating, and inspiring beauties made for HIS glory and our blessing is most delightful to behold. The rich green valleys, the fruited plains, plants, flowers, and seas of splendor, mountains majestic, all for man’s blessing. Oh, are HIS creations not marvelous in our sight?
But with all that God provided, man chose to rebel against HIS command. GOD knew and was prepared to finish the necessary work to recapture the heart and soul of fallen man. God’s purposes placed HIS love and determination on mankind from the foundation of the world. The Father would give HIS Son for the Redemption of man’s souls.
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
God made a way for fallen mankind to be forgiven, brought back into an intimate relationship with God. The Justice of God was satisfied, atonement for sins was made and the sinner now saint would be privileged to enjoy the blessings of eternal life IN CHRIST.
When we come to the Father in prayer, let us come with a sincere heart of gratefulness and praise for HE who has done marvelous for us. HE gave HIS Son who fulfilled the just demands of the law to be our sacrificial lamb. The innocent and perfect lamb of God was slain so that we might have life everlasting. HIS loving-kindness is with us and shall be with us all the days of our lives. We cannot have too many great thoughts of God only too few. Let us think upon all that HE has done and shall do and praise HIM who is worthy of our praise and adoration.
