In thy presence…
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalms 16:11)
HE, the LORD our God, will show us the path of life. Jesus made it very clear this path is a very narrow path. It is the way of the cross as the Developing Disciple learns to embrace humility, mourning, meekness, to hunger and to thirst for HIM, for HIS righteousness. It is a very narrow way and so easy to fall from, but we fall into the arms of Jesus. HIS heart of compassion is revealed to our spiritual eyes in the pages of Scripture, therefore, we confess, we are cleansed, we are comforted and placed back upon our journey of grace and faith on this most satisfying path of life.
As we journey our God will reveal to us the Abundant life of Jesus Christ. We discover the fruit of the Spirit in love, joy and peace. The world is reeling in confusion and chaos, but we find rest for our souls as we maintain our gaze upon HIM.
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” (Colossians 1:27)
We are united in perfect union with our God. It is Christ in you which makes all of the perfections necessary for this divine bond to be secure. We must treasure this precious thought and the hopes and realities it brings to our lives. HE is with us and nothing shall separate our souls from the intimacy of this relationship established and maintained by the Trinity. We shall reign with HIM. We shall be joint-heirs with Christ. We shall serve HIM as Kings and Priests. We shall know the fulness of joy in HIS presence. We receive small rays, sometimes showers of blessings to strengthen our faith, but then joy unspeakable and full of glory shall be ours.
We have doubts and fears now only because we have not fully surrendered to the promises, HE has given to us. We fear because we do not believe HE is trustworthy. How could the Father prove a greater love than to send HIS Son to suffer for my sin? HIS sacrifice was for my sin. HE longs to bring us into HIS presence to show us HIS glory.
“Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:24)
The saints of God shall be brought to the very throne room of God enjoying the fulness of HIS presence basking, deriving great pleasure from this scene of glorious worship. This is our hope based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ and the promises of God to HIS own. All fears, all doubts, all sorrow shall be gone. These former things are now all passed away.
Just as, the connection between sin and sorrow can never be severed, so to, the relationship between holiness and happiness is even more secure for the child of God in heaven. Choose to trust God and rejoice in HIM. Allow HIS promises to fill your soul and your faith shall grow. Trust HIM for HE has proven himself to be true and faithful. As faith increases, our doubts and fears diminish. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
