“He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. 18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. 19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.” (Psalms 18:17-19)
The strong enemy of our soul is Satan and his principalities and powers of darkness that reign in the world of men. They use the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life to steal our affections away from our God and Savior. But the Father delights in me, for HE saw me when I was yet without hope. HE saw me as I struggled through the torments of time as I loved darkness rather than light. There was no time for the Word of God or a love for the brethren. My decisions were always about me and what would benefit me. How can I move forward in this world of pleasure and opportunity?
But soon there were fleeting moments when it was as if a strong comforting thought would come into my soul. “Come unto me…” This seemed to be the sound, but who was calling and why would I come?
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
How tired do we need to become before we start listening, yearning for that voice to speak again? The voice comes again, but it seems to shine a light on my sin.., and then I learn what others have learned before me:
“My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!”
This is the ministry of the Holy Spirit wooing your soul, calling your soul to the truth of GRACE. COME TO CHRIST FOR HE HAS DONE ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO BE FORGIVEN. How bad is your trouble? How great are the enemies that rise up against you? How weary is your soul of the sorrows and sufferings that come and continue to come your way.
“He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.”
What is this large place HE has brought me into? It is the reign of grace. The reign of grace is the place of blessing and provision making the sinner now saint acceptable in the beloved. No merit of your own only the merits of Christ will do. Cast yourself upon HIM for HE careth for your soul. HE delighteth in you therefore HE delivereth you and you shall reign with HIM in heaven. This is our faith. Will you make it yours?
